When life gives you an extra skein, make a hat — the Matunuck Beanie is cable-y, textured companion to my Matunuck pullover.

After finishing Matunuck, I was left with one full skein of the delightfully woolly, soft, and warm Woodnote DK by Baa Ram Ewe and immediately cast on this companion beanie. The hat uses the same braided cable and garter rib stitch as in the Matunuck pullover, so you can use it as a wearable swatch for the sweater, or make it for your woolies basket to grab on crisp mornings.

The Matunuck Beanie is a double-brim style made from the bottom up from an optional tubular cast-on.
